Tamworth NSW is half way between Sydney and Brisbane.

Tamworth is known as the equine capital of Australia due to the many events held at their Livestock Events Centre. The city hosts an abundance of different music festivals throughout the year, the largest being the Tamworth Country Music Festival held at the end of January. Tamworth was the first city in Australia to use electric street lights in 1888.

History buffs will enjoy visiting one or more of the 10 museums in Tamworth, all of which offer documents and exhibits that tell the tale of the city’s history and culture, which has made it the vibrant city that it is today.

Tamworth Regional Entertainment and Conference Centre is the biggest in NSW and QLD and has seating for nearly 5,000. Affiliated with The Capitol Theatre, and Tamworth Town Hall, these venues host a variety of exhibitions, big band concerts, opera, and symphonies.

Tamworth is a great place for fitness fanatics. The surrounding area is bursting with stunning scenery, nature experiences and National Parks. Here you can barbecue, swim, fish, and view waterfalls.

No visit to Tamworth is complete without visiting the Country Music Wax Museum and National Guitar Museum. As you approach the city from the south, look for the Big Golden Guitar erected in 1988 as a tribute to the city’s connection to Country Music.
