Australian Wooden Boat Festival

The Australian Wooden Boat Festival is a biennial event at the Hobart waterfront, a historical marvel. The event attracts over five hundred wooden boats, tall ships from all over Australia and the globe, Tasmanian tall ships renowned in the area, and racing boats.

The National Maritime Museum holds a key symposium designed to reach young people to get interested in the maritime program. The International Wooden Boat Symposium is an integral part of the festival, where experts hold workshops and expert sharing forums. Other events in the biggest boat festival in the Southern Hemisphere include a Maritime Marketplace which has displays from many different maritime-based organisations, a film festival, a competitive Quick 'n' Dirty race that is loads of fun, entertainment throughout, and food and drinks. The maritime fiesta is held over four days in February and is one of the most popular family-friendly festivals.
